Rogers Explorers Experience NASA Rocket Science
Rogers Explorers, modeled after the Rogers Scholars program, is a hands-on three-day, two-night program focusing on defining skills in mathematics and science. Explorers are able to participate in the focus areas of mathematics, science, engineering and community service. All materials was taught by professionals and experts. This program allows students to meet people and enjoy experiences that provide them the opportunity to broaden their horizons and consider their future from a new and different perspective.
Speaking of a different perspective, try learning science from an actual NASA Rocket Scientist. This is exactly what CenterNET2 brought to each student through “Rocket Science.” This live, two-way videoconference demonstrated real-world applications of math and science principles as applied to rockets. It showed Rogers Explorers why they "have to learn" graphing, problem-solving using fractions or decimals, scientific notation, trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and vectors. Newton's Laws of Motion, forces, moments, center of gravity, and the basic thermodynamics principles of energy, work, and power were also demonstrated.
It was truly “Rocket Science.”
