“Hands-On, Minds-On” Professional Development Workshop
Diana Anderson at Pineville Independent and Artist Richard Albine created their own virtual workshop providing 8 teachers and two community members with a "Hands-On, Minds-On": an arts professional development workshop in the Pineville School Library's videoconferencing center. The workshop, a part of the district's overall professional development plan for expanding the use of arts across the curriculum, featured on-site artists as well as a videoconference that allowed teachers to connect to artists in Northern Ireland. “This was one of the best professional development activities we have ever had. What is even greater is the fact that we are going to try to arrange a couple of more connections with Ireland that would involve students from Northern Ireland and kids from here,” commented Diana. Artist Richard Albine and Diana are also planning a videoconference that would include students who participated in their Summer Dulcimer Camp with kids across the CenterNET2 Network who might be interested in the Dulcimer. “As you can see, I am very excited about the possibilities! Thanks to The Center and a special thanks to Brad for his persistence in getting this done for us. You guys ROCK!!!!!”
