Kentucky Healthcare Response, Katrina Disaster Quickly Addressed Via Video”
In collaboration with CenterNET2, the Governor’s Office of Technology and the Kentucky Telehealth Network made it possible Dr. William Hacker, Commissioner of the KY Department of Public Health, requested a connection for September 7 from 12-2 pm EST 11 am -1 pm CST. The connection informed Kentucky healthcare professionals about what is happening in the Gulf coast and to prepare healthcare professionals for any Katrina refugees that may seek healthcare in Kentucky. It is possible that some people may travel to Kentucky to stay with relatives, and it is important to understand the special healthcare needs of these patients. They also discussed Kentucky medical outreach efforts and future mobilization of Kentucky healthcare resources to support refugees at the site of the disaster or at relief centers.
