Streaming Media

The enhanced services include the use of streaming media through MPEG 1, 2 and 4 and web casting of content running on the CenterNET network. The network also received and enhanced bridging device that allows for H.323 (or IP based) interactive video conferencing integration. This allows ITV rooms from around the world to be easily and inexpensively integrated into the network as content deliverers of recipients.

The Streaming media enhancement, coupled with the Kentucky Postsecondary Education Network statewide high bandwidth capability, allows television quality one way video to originate on and be distributed throughout the KPEN network. Taking this a step further, it becomes a transport for TV quality video that can be distributed over the CenterNET network, web cast for the Internet, or provided to Digital Television distribution facilities such as the KPEN or commercial venues such as WKYT or WYMT for delivery over the airways.
